Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Fable ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at fable.la ("Website"). This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to the website owners.

The Fable Desktop Application

The Fable desktop application does not use cookies. It keeps your sign-in session and preferences in local files on your computer, and a usage analytics identifier in the app's local storage (a browser-style storage area inside the app, not a cookie). The analytics identifier links usage events to your account, as described in our Privacy Policy. Usage analytics and masked session recordings are collected while you use the app. You can ask us to delete your data by emailing hello@fable.la.

Types of Cookies We Use

Our Website uses two kinds of cookies:

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Website to function properly. They enable basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas.

Analytics and Advertising Cookies

We use the following tools on the Website. They set cookies or store identifiers in your browser:

PostHog (United States): page views, clicks, and product events, plus session recordings with all text and form inputs masked (kept 30 days). If you sign in on the Website, for example to apply for the beta, these events are linked to your Fable account.
Google Analytics: visit counts, traffic sources, and page views.
Meta Pixel: measures whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to visits and sign-ups.
Mixpanel: product analytics, which we are replacing with PostHog.

These tools do not track visits to public document share pages.

Cookie Management

Most web browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update our Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
