Signing In
Fable supports two ways to sign in:
- Google — the quickest way. Click "Sign in with Google" and authorize in your browser.
- Email & password — create an account with your email, a password, and a display name.
Your session persists across app restarts, so you only need to sign in once.
Your First Project
When you open Fable for the first time, you'll be guided through creating your first project. Pick an emoji icon and give it a title — this is your writing project, whether it's a novel, a screenplay, or a collection of notes.
Every project starts with one document. You can add more documents at any time — think of them as chapters, scenes, or sections of your story.
The Workspace
When you open Fable, you see three panels:
| Left | Center | Right |
|---|---|---|
| Projects & documents | The editor | Edit history |
The left sidebar shows your projects. Click into a project to see its documents. The center is your writing surface. The right sidebar shows the complete history of changes. The record bar sits above the editor for voice editing.
Both sidebars can be collapsed for a focused writing view — press Cmd+Z (or Ctrl+Z on Windows) to toggle Zen mode.
Making Your First Edit
Ready to try voice editing? Here's how:
Open a document
Press record
Speak your instruction
Stop recording
Watch your document come to life
That's it! Your edit is saved to the history timeline on the right, with a summary of what changed. From here, you can keep refining — speak more instructions, invite collaborators, or explore the rest of Fable's features.
